Chuck Barfoot

I remember as a kid seeing the Barfoot ads in magazines and for some reason being intrigued by them. Over the years that just stayed with me a when I got back into skating (My mid-life crises) I was once again was drawn to the "Barfoot Claw".  I had the pleasure of speaking to Chuck a few times when ordering boards and this guy is a true legend. He is the godfather of snowboards, ran the RD at Sims back in the day, and continues to make great longboards.

Longboard on 11/16/2008

Last week the winter weather moved in and not much skating happened. Saturday was a wash out and on Sunday it was cold, with high winds and snow flurries.

So I went longboarding !!!

Roskopp

My first real skateboard back in the 80's was a Rob Roskopp Face Deck. I saved my money a bought it from a small skate shop in town that was only open for a few months. It was blue with pink tape. It was my street board and my primary mode of transportation in those days. I had it for about a week and snapped the tail off doing foot plants off the back of the old man's car. I did get a replacement for the shop but I can't for the life of me remember what ever became of the deck. When the new Santa Cruz re-issues came of I just had to get. Not sure if I will ever skate it. It may end up as a wall hanger.
